L.A. BLUES #36
fanzine $5

8 pages, January 1987. In the 1980s and early 1990s, I did a long series of zines, newsletters, and flyers called L.A. Blues. This was the one offset-printed issue, and was going to be my big "sell-out" to rock magdom. Instead, I started doing Crawlspace "seriously" and L.A. Blues returned to its crappy xerox format(s) for a few more years. Anyway, this has a great cover photo of a 1960s Indiana teen band called Chaos Inc. (found inside a copy of Beatles '65 in a Bloomington record store circa 1975), an early ad for Crawlspace ("It's not a band--it's a way of life. Taking a dump on your world in '87."), a photo of the Back from Samoa-era Angry Samoans, and reviews of stuff I may or may not still endorse 20 years later (Blue Velvet, Robt. Williams, Panther Burns, George Brigman, Eugene Chadbourne, a Kerouac documentary, Flaming Lips/Lazy Cowgirls at the Anti-Club, Jandek, John Cale live, MX-80-related cassettes, fanzines, etc.)
